Tower of Terror is a sit-down roller coaster located at Gold Reef City in Gauteng, South Africa.

The ride was designed by Nauta Bussink, manufactured by local companies and built by Gold Reef City.[1]

Before the 2006-2007 refurbishment, this coaster held the record for the highest g-force on a roller coaster at 6.5G. (A spaceship launches at 3G's). According to the project manager of the 2006-2007 refurbishment, the ride now has "drastically lower levels, now reaching close to 4G in the tunnel".

Design[]

Tower of Terror lifts the car up with an elevator lift. It then pushes the car forward into the vertical drop. The drop dives 49 feet (14.9 metres) under the ground into a former mine shaft.[2]

The coaster was originally built with a lift hill until the 2006-2007 refurbishment.
