Sunkid Heege is a Rhineland based company which specializes at family rides and coasters across Europe. The buisness started by the Heege brothers in a small garage at Laubach were they would build their first playground equipment in the 1970s and quickly suceeded in the theme parks industry. Just a few years later, the first Family Ride, called the Movymat (predecessor of the Skydive) was launched. This was soon followed by the Nautic Jet, the only ride in the world with a free flight phase to date. Inspired by this success, the company developed an outstanding reputation in the industry thanks to its highly qualified employees.

In 2009, it was acquired by globally active Sunkid GmbH from Austria. This increased the sales market and led to an expansion of the product range towards ride components, up to completely new roller-coaster trains. The development of new Family Rides experienced a new dynamic as well. For example, the Sundancer was launched in 2016.

The company entered to the coaster industry with the Butterfly model, a small, self operating coaster that became a success across Europe, due to its small space and cheap cost. The first coaster of Sunkid was around 1985 and today there are 66 Butterflys across diffrenet European theme parks.

Sunkid also produces the SCT1200 trains. Those trains, that can be found on some of the older Vekoma looping coasters such as SpeedSnake FREE are a replacment for some of the Arrow/Vekoma trains. Those trains were highly praised and were known to be much comfortable then other trains.
