Storm Runner is an Intamin AG launched roller coaster located at Hersheypark in Hershey, Pennsylvania. It was opened in May 2004, and is located in the Pioneer Frontier section of the park.
General Information[]
Storm Runner features a hydraulic launch, experienced as the train car first rolls onto the magnetic break platform. The car launches from 0-72 mph in under 2 seconds, just before a pre-recorded voice finishes saying "Now get ready, here we go." The car then climbs straight up an 150-foot-tall "top hat" and travels back down 180 feet at 75 mph before entering the first-ever "Cobra Loop". Continuing on, the car twists and turns through tracks laid out all across Pioneer Frontier, entering a heartline roll and a snake dive before coming to a complete stop at the brake run.
Trivia[]
- The duration of the ride is a mere 34 seconds from the launch to the brakes.
- Storm Runner is available as a ride design on the Soaked! expansion of Roller Coaster Tycoon 3.
- During "Hersheypark in the Dark" Storm Runner is dubbed Ghost Runner.
