Spinball Whizzer is a Sit-Down Spinning roller coaster located at Alton Towers,[1] UK. It was manufactured by Maurer Söhne. The name is a pun on "pinball wizard", which is also the title of a song by British rock band The Who.

Trains[]

8 single-car trains. Each car has four seats making for 950 riders per hour.

Theme[]

  • When the ride opened in 2004, it was themed as a giant pinball machine. This theme was changed when SEGA sponsored the ride in 2010. It was then themed around Sonic the Hedgehog.[2] In 2016, the coaster reverted to the Spinball Whizzer theming after the sponsorship with SEGA ended.
