Relocated refers to when coasters or other amusement rides have moved out to another amusement park or another section of its home park. It's most common (and cheap) on steel coasters, especially Bolliger & Mabillard's plug & play technology (except for Universal, all there coasters get shuffled out instead of scrapped due to the easy porting). It also happens on wooden coasters, though it is not as common.

Reasons for relocation[]

  • Promotion of Grand Opening - While not a coaster, it is related to a coaster, the batmobile at Six Flags Great Adventure was relocated to Six Flags Over Georgia during the '96-'97 off season to save money on opening, a replica model did appear during the 2004 restoration of all Batman rides except Six Flags St. Louis, Magic Mountain, and Over Georgia.
  • Breaking records - Six Flags Magic Mountain is especially known for relocating coasters to increase number count, and Cedar Point once did that as well with Broadway Trip.
  • Saving money - The reason why the Ride Rotation program occurred and why Magic Mountain has a lot of coasters is to save money. There had been rumors of a similar program occurring to move discontinued coasters to Chinese parks, which have since been cancelled.
