Nitro is a Bolliger & Mabillard steel roller coaster located at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey.[1] It was opened in late 2001. It was the third Bolliger & Mabillard hyper roller coaster built.

History and General Information[]

Nitro was constructed by roller coaster manufacturer, Bolliger & Mabillard and opened in 2001 at Six Flags Great Adventure. At the time of its opening, it was the fastest roller coaster in New Jersey and the tallest roller coaster on the East Coast. Currently, it is one of the park's thirteen roller coasters. It has the second steepest drop from a lift hill in the park, behind El Toro (Kingda Ka is not counted as it is a launched roller coaster). Nitro's lift hill once featured signs on the stairways comparing its height to landmarks such as Niagra Falls, however, these have since been removed.

Nitro still remains a popular roller coaster with long lines, but luckily its short loading times allow for short waiting times as well. The coaster features 3 trains, each with 36 seats in 9 rows of 4. Many factors including ease of dispatch and large capacity mentioned above allow for these lines to move quickly.
