Mundo Petapa, (formerly Parque Recreativo Urbano Petapa), is an amusement park situated in Guatemala City, Guatemala. The park opened on September 3, 1963, making it one of the country's oldest amusement parks.
The park is currently owned and operated by IRTRA, which also owns Xejuyup and Xetulul.
Mundo Petapa also holds the most amount of roller coasters in Guatemala with four, all of which are manufactured by Zamperla.
As of June 2020, the park is currently in operation.
History[]
Mundo Petapa officially opened on September 3, 1963 and would open their first coaster, Dragon, sometime before 2003.
Later in 2009, the park would be renamed from Parque Recreativo Urbano Petapa into Mundo Petapa. The following year, the park would open two new roller coasters, Moto Bala and Raton Loroco.
On December 20, 2019, Mundo Petapa would open Relámpago to the public. The coaster is the tallest, the second fastest as well as the second longest in Guatemala.
The park continues to operate as of writing.
