Goliath was a Vekoma inverted shuttle roller coaster located at Six Flags New England in Agawam, Massachusetts.[1] The ride is one of four Giant Inverted Boomerangs built by Vekoma. The design is very similar to Vekoma's Boomerang design but has completely vertical lifts on both ends. The ride opened in August 2001 and was the last of the three Giant Inverted Boomerangs operating at a Six Flags park until its closure.
History[]
Goliath originally opened at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California under the name "Déjà Vu". Pretty soon, Six Flags New England announced they were adding Goliath, a boomerang type coaster. The only Deja Vu left at a Six Flags park was the one at Magic Mountain. After ten years of operation, Deja Vu closed on October 16, 2011, and was dismantled. Parts were later shipped off to Massachusetts to begin construction on Goliath, what we know Deja Vu as today. Upon opening, the coaster received a new train from Premier Rides to make the boarding in the station less confusing and complicated, while also increasing rider capacity. The ride would later be heavily criticized due to the trains riding rough on the track.
In 2021, Six Flags New England removed Goliath from the park map, and a park representative confirmed it would not operate for the remainder of the season. The coaster began demolition in late 2021 confirming its permanent closure. The ride was completely demolished before the 2022 season started.
