This article is about the roller coaster named "G Force", for the article on the gravitational force, see G-Force.
G Force was a steel sit-down roller coaster located at Drayton Manor in Drayton Bassett, Staffordshire, England, UK. It is the only Maurer Söhne X-Car roller coaster in the UK, and was opened by the band G4 on 26 July 2005. It was the second X-Car coaster in the world, after the prototype Sky Wheel at Skyline Park in Germany. The ride was originally going to be called Project X, but this changed to G Force before it opened.
The ride closed in 2018 and stood SBNO until its removal in 2020. As of March 2024, the roller coaster is for sale at a Swiss amusement rides broker for a price of €695,000.[1]
Design[]
Elements •Vertical loop |
This ride uses a unique inverted chain lift called a Humpty Bumpty Lift, which is similar to a standard vertical loop. When riders reach the top, they are fully upside-down. The train is then released into two more inversions in a rare element: a Bent Cuban Eight.
Trains[]
The ride uses special X-Car trains which keep riders in place with special hip restraints, rather than a conventional shoulder harness. These allow freedom of upper body movement, however they can cause discomfort on the lower body to some riders.
