History[]
Early Years[]
The ride originally opened at Six Flags Great America in 1985 as Z-Force. As part of Six Flags’ former Ride Rotation Program, in 1987 the ride was relocated to Six Flags Over Georgia where it opened in 1988. It was finally relocated to Six Flags Magic Mountain under it's new name, Flashback.
Closure[]
The ride (especially after moving to Six Flags Magic Mountain) was suffering from neglect. The track was said to be rusted and in poor condition and riders complained that the ride had got much rougher. The ride was making so much noise that the lifeguards at the nearby Hurricane Harbor water park were being distracted. These factors forced the ride's closure in 2003. The entrance was boarded up and power to the site was cut. There were many rumors that the ride would be reopened but eventually it was demolished in 2007, along with the ill-fated Psyclone and was scrapped shortly after.
Trivia[]
- Flashback was the first roller coaster to feature four-abreast seating, a feature now used on many Bolliger & Mabillard coasters.
