Apocalypse: The Ride, also simply known as Apocalypse, is a wooden roller coaster located at Six Flags Magic Mountain.[1]
History[]
The ride was manufactured by Great Coasters International and was originally named Terminator Salvation: The Ride, after the 4th film in the Terminator series. It was built in the spot formerly occupied by Psyclone. Apocalypse was the first wooden coaster to have on-board speakers; However the speakers later stopped working properly and were removed. The ride also has three misty tunnels and a fire special effect.
In early 2017, Apocalypse temporarily closed for replacement of about 400 feet of laminated track by Wood Coaster Developments.[2] While the surrounding area was closed in 2018 for re-theming into The Underground, the coaster was re-tracked again by Great Coasters International. It re-opened on September 14, 2019.[3]
Towards the end of the 2024 season, Apocalypse was closed again for refurbishment. It re-opened on January 11, 2025, five days later than originally scheduled due to windy conditions.[4][5]

Trains[]
Apocalypse's trains have 12 cars seating 2 across. However, the 12th car, which formerly housed the speaker system does not seat riders. This makes the train's maximum capacity 22.
